Agnes's Story

Agnes I. Carter Nixon, 86, of Angleton, Texas passed away on August 25, 2016. She was born on October 8, 1929 in Huntsville, Texas to Thomas Adnie Carter and Mattie Lee Allen Carter.
Agnes grew in Huntsville before moving to Angleton, Texas, where she built her home around 1950 and worked for over 30 years at Angleton City Drug.
Agnes was a member of First United Methodist Church in Angleton.
Agnes never met a stranger, and she was loved by all that knew her. For many years she enjoyed bowling with her league, traveling, hunting, fishing and collecting salt and paper shakers.
Agnes is survived by her sister Mattie Jean Simon; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews; and her beloved cats Buddy and five month old, Stinker. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Nixon; parents Thomas and Mattie Carter; sisters Minnie Leona Knighton, Angeline Sullivan and Lillie Gertrude Reaves; brothers Thomas Carter, Samuel Carter and Odell Carter.
The family will receive at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 in the chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Interment will follow the service at Farris Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family at Farris Chapel following the service.
