Arlene "Shirley" Keim, 80, of Huntsville Texas, Yakima Washington, Lodi California, Wichita Kansas, Owosso Michigan, Edmonton Alberta and many other places, passed away at her daughter's home in Farson, Wyoming on May 15. Shirley was born in Albert, Kansas on February 11, 1937 and attended Pawnee Rock School. She later attended Spring Vale Academy at Owosso Michigan, where she graduated in 1955. Shirley continued her education at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan. Between college and marriage, Shirley was employed as an Insurance Clerk for Pyramid Life in Kansas City, Kansas. Shirley's life was forever changed after meeting her future husband, Roy Keim, during church services at the Kansas City Church of God 7th Day. Roy and Shirley became husband and wife on November 27, 1958 in Kansas City Missouri, with pastor Ray Moldenhauer officiating. Roy and Shirley soon moved to Stanberry, Missouri where her husband attended seminary at Midwest Bible College, where the first two of their six children were born. Like her husband, Shirley lived a life of service to her family, friends and faith. A skilled seamstress, Shirley helped with family finances by expertly making virtually all of the family's clothes. Over the years Shirley used her fine-tuned financial and homemaking skills managing the household and helping any way she could wherever Roy's calling as Pastor and Teacher may lead. Shirley may be best known by many as the "Master of Laundry" at Spring Vale Academy (SVA) where she and her husband served in many roles over several years. While at SVA, Shirley also served as District Treasurer for the Church of God 7th Day. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Roy and is survived by their six children; Daniel, Danelle, Sherrie, Sharon, Linda and Nadine, fourteen grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren - and one on the way.
Friends can join the family at Waller-Thornton/Brooke Funeral Home (672 FM 980 RD, Huntsville, TX) for a viewing from 1:00-2:00 pm, Sunday, May 21st, immediately followed by a memorial service starting at 2:00 PM. Shirley will then be laid to rest, next to her husband, with a brief grave-side service at the Dodge Cemetery, located on FM 405, near Huntsville
