Charles Stephen Rose

1950 - February 28, 2019

Charles Stephen Rose Charlie Rose told his last and most inappropriate joke to date on Thursday February 28th at 12:37a.m.

One of his favorite pastimes was reading the obituaries out loud every morning to his wife Sharon and aspired to having his very own some day. I guess you could say his dreams are finally coming true.

He took extreme pride in tending to his garden, his ability to execute a pull my finger joke with the greatest of ease, and the fact that he was never caught empty handed when he came across a dog looking for a treat.

He would spend hours filling up bird feeders in his front yard only to spend hours in battle with the squirrels who would help themselves to the seed buffet. The squirrels' will miss him dearly.

He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy straight out of high school in 1969. He served on numerous ships including on the U.S.S Grand Canyon where the Paris Peace Accord was signed in 1973 ending the Vietnam War.

He went by many names, Charlie, Chuckie, Chuck the Duck, Chuckie Boy, his most recent Lieutenant Dan, his most common Charlie Rose, and simply dad to his daughter Elese.

Of all the people he touched, both willing and unwilling, his most proud achievement in life was marrying his wife Sharon Kay Smith who supported him in all his glory during his heyday, and lovingly supported him physically during their last days together.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Elese, his four legged son Comet, brother Stephen, sister Deborah, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Rita B. Huff Humane Society; a charity that was near and dear to Charlie.

Respect calls will be on Wednesday, March 6th from 4:00p - 7:00p at 3016 Simmons Street, Huntsville, Texas. Bring your favorite Charlie story to share and keep the good memories going.
