Karen Christine Parker Woodard died Friday, June 23, 2017 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. She was 46 years old, and an organ donor.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Huntsville.
Born in Huntsville on February 4, 1971, Christi grew up here, attending Huntsville schools until her graduation from high school in 1989. She attended the University of Texas San Antonio for two years before transferring to Sam Houston State, from which she was graduated in 1992 with a BS in Criminal Justice.
She immediately moved to Snyder, TX, where she worked as a parole officer with TDCJ from February, 1993 until her death. Christi met Chris Woodard in Snyder, and they married on June 10, 1995. They continued to be best friends until his death in May, 2014. Their son, Michael Christopher, was born in 2005.
Christi is greatly loved by her son, Michael; her parents, Robert and Connie Parker of Huntsville; her parents-in-law, Wayne and Betty Woodard of Snyder; her brother, Steven Parker, his wife, Estella, and their daughters, Tiera and Cecelia, all of Taylor; her nieces, Katy and Sarah Spradlin of Snyder; her grandparents, Robert and Wanda Morgan of San Antonio; her aunt, Karen Morgan of Long Beach, CA; her uncle, Jim Parker of Santa Fe, NM; Godparents Charles and Patty Osina of Houston; Thunder the bulldog, and an amazing number of other family, friends, and coworkers.
