Daniel's Story

Text size

Daniel Craig Killingsworth was born in Madisonville, Texas, on March 23, 1977, to Ralph Killingsworth & Althea Liddell Ashworth. Craig went to be with our Lord on April 16, 2017, at the age of 40.
Growing up in Bedias, Texas, with four brothers brought to life Craig's adventurous, fearless spirit. The five of them entertained themselves by having BB gun wars, teepee burnings, and ziplining. Some of Craig's favorite childhood memories are of his horse "Pea-shooter", riding his bike, and raising his Grand Champion scramble heifer.
Craig attended schools in Madisonville, New Waverly, and graduated from Huntsville High School.
Craig started his career in air conditioning with his step-father, Jerry Ashworth, at an early age. He became an expert over the years. Craig was also a crane operator on offshore drilling rigs from the Gulf of Mexico to Saudi Arabia. In more recent years, Craig was the owner and operator of Ashworth Heating and Air Conditioning in Huntsville, Texas.
In September of 1996, Craig met his soulmate, Vicki Jo Harper. They married on September 30, 2000, in Riverside, Texas.  They shared a special kind of love that showed in everything they did for one another and everyone around.
In 2009, they welcomed their first daughter, Kalyn Evi Jo. In 2010, their second daughter, Kyli Alia, was born. Having children and teaching them all of life's lessons was the highlight of Craig's life. Craig exemplified selflessness in the way he cared for, loved, and cherished his beautiful wife and daughters.
Craig was all heart and it showed in all of his unselfish acts, passion, and willingness to help anyone in need. Craig loved traveling, visiting family and friends all over the world, and spending time with loved ones. A special memory of Craig's was his time spent in Hawaii working on a Dole pineapple farm when he was 15 years old. Later in life, he took Vicki, Kalyn, and Kyli (who was still growing in Mommy's tummy) to the farm to share stories of his time there.  Craig was an outdoorsman, and he spent many hours bow-hunting. Craig was the perfect balance of book-smart and common sense. His strong work ethic helped him to become a self-taught expert in anything he put his mind to.  He took pride in maintaining their property, and he always had plans of bigger and better things for his family. He spent countless hours creating Kalyn & Kyli's dream fort from fallen trees on their property. Craig always had a smile on his face and would joyfully give anyone in need the shirt off his back. Even in the last several years, while challenged with many medical issues, Craig's faith, love, and generosity never wavered. All who were fortunate enough to call him a friend or family were blessed by his animated and adventurous spirit.
Craig didn't just make it through life, he truly lived each day to its fullest. He was a protector and defender to all those he loved. We will be forever grateful to God for the short time he gave us with Craig on earth, but we know we will again meet and embrace him in heaven one day.
Craig is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Jo Harper Killingsworth, daughters Kalyn Evi Jo and Kyli Alia; Mother Althea Liddell Ashworth and Step-father Jerry Ashworth; brothers: Lynn Killingsworth and wife Twila, Lee Killingsworth and wife Tonya, Scott Killingsworth and wife April, Laine Killingsworth and wife Brandy, all of Huntsville; brother Robert Killingsworth of Zavalla, Texas, sister: Diane Killingsworth St. Andre of Lumberton, Texas, and sister-in-law Gwen Killingsworth of Jasper, Texas; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.  Craig is preceded in death by his father Ralph Killingsworth, brother Steve Killingsworth, and Grandparents.
Funeral services for Craig will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 21, 2017 in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas.
