Darrell Dean Dickey Darrell Dean Dickey, 89, of Huntsville, Texas went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 1, 2018. The son of Ernest Ray Dickey and Edna Angier Lum Dickey, he was born August 5, 1929, in Huntsville, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Curtis R. Dickey, his sister Ernestine Dickey Sloan and his loving wife Jimmie Sue Parker Dickey. Darrell and Sue enjoyed 58 wonderful years together.
He was a graduate of Huntsville High School, Class of 1946, and a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church. In 2013, Darrell was recognized as being the Longest Continuous Member of Calvary Baptist Church, currently a member of 71 years.
Darrell and Sue lived on the ranch where he was raised. He enjoyed everything that involved the cattle business, living and working there until his death. Darrell loved reminiscing to his grandkids of his cowboy days, the horses he rode, the cowdogs he owned, and working cattle with his friends. Above all his greatest loves were God and his family.
He is survived by his three children; his daughter and son-in-law Debra Jean and Mark Hardy of Huntsville; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Carole Dickey of Centerville; son and daughter-in-law Grant and Barbara Dickey of Huntsville. Six grandchildren Chad Dickey of Huntsville, Cole Hardy of Franklin, Lacey Hardy of Huntsville, Bay Dickey of Houston, Wyatt Dickey and Dean Dickey both of Huntsville; two great grandchildren, Jayde Dickey and Bodie Hardy; nephew Ray and Sharon Sloan of Huntsville; niece Amy and Walt Haralson of Navasota; and niece Barbara Ann Sloan of Huntsville.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 4th at 10:00 AM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday evening, October 3rd.
