Dewitt Massie, age 69, passed away on June 3, 2017, in Lawton, OK. He was born on June 30, 1947, to Henry, Sr. and Ella Mae Massie in Shepherd, Texas. Dewitt served in the United States Army from October 1966 to October 1977. Specialist 6 Class Dewitt Massie served 2 1/2 years in the Republic of Vietnam with the 23rd Infantry Division. After honorably serving his country he still until his home going maintained his high standard of loyalty to his country, family and fellow man. Time well served and dedicated. Dewitt leaves beautiful memories with his loved ones; wife: Mechelle Haywood-Massie; of Lawton, OK., children: Sonia Massie; of Huntsville, TX., Kelton Massie, Aasia Massie and Toyella Massie; of Dallas, TX., Ashley Haywood-Brown; of Lawton ,OK., Ronald Harris; of Arlington, TX., Desmond Massie and De'sir'ee Massie; of Lawton, OK., eighteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, brother: Henry Massie, Jr. (Diane); of Atlanta, GA., sisters: Mozenia Massie-Byrd (James), Betty Massie-Byrd (Bobby); both of Huntsville, TX., and Cheryl Massie-Mock (Larry); of Duncanville, TX., uncle: Rev. Ural Massey (Micaela); of Huntsville, TX., extended family: brothers: Robert Lee (Linda) and Keith Lee; both of Huntsville, TX., Walter Lee (Laura); of Spring, TX., and Isaiah Richardson (Juanita); of Riverside, TX., sister: Verna Philio (Bill); of Huntsville, TX., close friend: Kenneth Humphrey, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, additional relatives and friends. Friday, June 9, 2017, viewing will be held at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel, 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Services honoring Dewitt, will be Saturday, June 10, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Unity of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Jeffery Cemetery in Huntsville.
