Dickie  Joyner


A visitation for Richard "Dickie" Lee Joyner will be held from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Downs Funeral Home.
On Saturday March 30th Richard "Dickie" Lee Joyner was welcomed into heaven by the love of his life Theresa. Dickie was born February 12th 1952 and was a graduate of Leveretts Chapel High School and also a graduate of Kilgore College and UT Tyler. He was a Veteran and proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division and then worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice until approx. 2008. Dickie's favorite thing to do was being around his grandsons and watching them play baseball.. he loved "his boys"!
Mr. Joyner is preceded in death by his Wife: Theresa Ann Joyner; Mother: Lydia Joyner; Father: C.L. Joyner.
Mr. Joyner is survived by his Daughter: Emily (Barry) Dorbritz; Grandsons: Kaysin & Mason Brandt; Sister: Karen (David) Smith; Brother: Bubba (Debbie) Joyner; Brother: Paul (Linda) Joyner; Brother: Tommy (Nancy) Joyner. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dickie was also survived by his special friends Thomesia "T" Warren and Lisa Doyle at Cypress Place Assisted Living in Jefferson, Texas. These two women were his friends/caregivers and had created a bond with Dickie that he would enjoy and be proud of up until his last breath.
