Dorothy (Dot)'s Story
Dorothy (Dot) Mae Hearn Mansell 77, passed away in Tomball, Texas on the 13th day of August. She was born the 28th day of November in 1938 to Claude Hearn and Lona Brown (Hearn) Doughtie.
In 1955 on the 20th day of August Dot and Dale Mansell were married. They moved to Pasadena, Texas where they lived there for 35 years. After Dale retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Plant, they built a home and settled in Tomball, Texas to live out their retirement years.
Dot was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 1997. She fought a long battle with this devastating disease.
Dot was an avid gardener. She loved working in her yard and taking care of her beautiful flowers. She and Dale traveled, loved helping people, and spending time with family and grandchildren.
Dot is preceded in death by her parents Claude Hearn and Lona Doughtie, husband Dale Mansell and Brother Tommy Doughtie.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan Gantenbein and husband Jay, Jody Haynie and husband Ricky, grandchildren, Kody Petrash, Cole Hickman, Clay Hickman and brothers, Glenn Brown, Bobby Hearn, and Tony Doughtie. Sisters, Shirley (Doughtie) Villareal, Sue (Doughtie) Register, Terry (Doughtie) Artherholt.
Visitation will be from 10 till 11am on the 17th day of August 2016 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home at 1700 Normal Park Dr. Huntsville, Texas 77340 with a Funeral Service to follow at 11am. Private burial will be at Farris Cemetery, West FM1791, Huntsville, Texas 77340.
