Elizabeth Vaughan Stevens, age 82, of Atlanta, Texas, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, in Hope, Arkansas. Elizabeth was born December 25, 1935 in Naples, Texas to Charlie John Vaughan and Ivy Mae Robison Vaughan.
Elizabeth was an Episcopalian by faith. She retired from Windham School District where she was a teacher. Elizabeth graduated from Texas Christian University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She enjoyed spending time reading, cooking, snow skiing, fishing, making memories with her family and friends, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns, and she loved her dogs.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; and her favorite cousin, Mary Lew Batchelor.
Surviving family members include her husband James Stevens of Atlanta, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Cullen and Joellen Tipton of Onalaska, Texas, Charlie and Kathryn Stevens of Katy, Texas, and Chad and Mitzi Stevens of Brentwood, Tennessee; one daughter and son-in-law, Christi and Daniel Gimenez of Houston, Texas; one brother, Cully Vaughan of Oregon; eight grandchildren, Kaitlyn Tipton, Connor Tipton, Charlotte Gimenez, Hannah Stevens, Lillian Stevens, Anne Stevens, Samuel Stevens, and Elizabeth Stevens; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Wilder Cemetery in Naples, Texas with Bro. Dwaine Higgins officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at the funeral home.
