Eva's Story

Eva Dee Brown, age 89, of Huntsville, Texas passed away peacefully on November 4th in Miami, Florida where she resided her last year with her Granddaughter Jennifer Cabrera.
Eva was born on October 15, 1927, in Huntsville, Texas to Thomas Henry Doughtie and Eunice Bell Carter. Eva was preceded by her husband of 49 years Robert J. Brown, his three children Danny Brown, Bobby Brown, and Joe Brown, and her four brothers Bobby Doughtie, Willard, Doughtie, Herman Doughtie and Thomas Doughtie. She met Robert Brown through friends, and was married on August 9, 1959. Robert was a business owner who served in World War II, and received a purple heart. Eva Dee worked at the S&H Green Stamp Store as the Manager for 14 years and later joined Walmart where she worked for 21 years until the age of 84. She was known for her friendliness and zest for life. She loved people and loved to talk to people. She enjoyed spending time with her family, travel, and always loved to play the slots at the casino.
Known as "Mom" and "Grandma Brown" to her beloved family, she is survived by her children Charlene Koehl and husband Curtis, Eunice Myers, Gay Wolverton, Frank McMillian and wife Gail, Jerry McMillian and wife Carolyn, and Mike McMillian and wife Barbara; 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; and siblings Flora Powell and husband Charles, Terry Artherholt and husband Edd, Sue Register and husband Jerry, Shirley Villareal and husband Wally and Tony Doughtie and wife Molly.
She was known by many and will be loved and missed by all.
Visitation will be 4pm -6pm on Sunday, November 13th and Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 14th, both at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Huntsville, Texas. Interment will follow the services at Brooke Cemetery on FM 980 in Huntsville, Texas.
