Fabris Kay Wood was born at home, on December 13, 1937 to Elbert Posey and Ruby Alma George Posey in Neches, Texas. She went home to be with the Lord due to natural causes at the age of 81, on February 27, 2019 in Huntsville, Texas. She grew up in Cherokee County and played volleyball, basketball, and softball. She married at a young age to Wayne B. Wood in North Carolina. She and Wayne had three children in Huntsville Texas, where she devoted her life to being a homemaker and serving her family and she had a passion for baking for friends and family. She loved spending time reading and playing games with loved ones. She was a member of University Heights Baptist Church for 28 years, and then in 1993 became a member of Family Faith Church, where she attended for the last 26 years of her life. She became a widow in 1991, when her husband of 34 years died of natural causes, while serving as a Detective for the Huntsville Police Department. She remained a widow and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, teaching strong family values, where there was always an open-door policy in her home with unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne B. Wood, her father and mother Elbert & Alma Posey, brother George Posey, father and mother in law Roy B. & Mattie E. Wood, sister Betty Stone, brother in law Rob Lee Wood, brother in law Gerald D. Wood, brother in law James Stone, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends, Ila Martinez and Marceline Holzinger.
She is survived by her sister Jo Brooks of Elkhart, TX, her sister in law, Sue Ann and husband Tom Rushing of Port Aransas, TX, her daughter Deanna and husband Bobby Wilson of Huntsville, TX, her daughter Darla and husband Mike Maynard of Willis, TX, her son Kyle Wood and wife Marchae of Huntsville, TX. Grandchildren Wesley & Darlissa Wilson of Huntsville, TX, Chase & Yvette Wood of Huntsville, TX, Crystal & David Branson of Coldspring, TX, Danielle & Riley Newlon of Willis, TX and Kandace Nicole & Spencer Mosley of Orlando, FL. Eight great-grandchildren Faith and Hagin Branson, Hadly, Gavin & Avery Wood, Reagyn & Payton Newlon, and Addilynn Wilson. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Friday March 1st at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home in Huntsville from 6 till 8 in the evening. Funeral service will be at Family Faith Church in Huntsville at 10 in the morning on Saturday March 2nd. Interment will follow at Brooke Cemetery.
