The family of Boyd Wilder invites you to a celebration of his life and graduation to his Heavenly home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017, 10:00 AM, at First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas with Pastor Jason Bay and Doctor Edwin Crank officiating, with graveside services to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Boyd's family will receive visitors at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, March 9, 2017, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
Franklin Boyd Wilder was born on July 11, 1945 in Huntsville, Texas to Lois and Mary Wilder. He passed away peacefully March 7, 2017 in Huntsville, Texas, due to complications from pneumonia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Annette Williams and Barbara Hughes. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky Wilder; his brother Kenny Wilder and wife Debbie; son Randy Wilder and wife Jamie; daughter Tammy McGinty and husband Jerry; and daughter Christy Garza and husband Horacio. Grandchildren include: Sheridan Slater, Macy Baker, Brittany Foreman, Rob Parks, Bethany Wilder, Joshua McGinty, Jacob McGinty, Jonah McGinty, Jared Bruce, Zoey Garza, Eli Garza, and great-granddaughter Keagan Slater. Nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces are also a special part of Boyd's surviving family.
Upon graduation from Huntsville High School in 1963, Boyd married his sweetheart Becky on July 25, 1966. Shortly thereafter, he began his career with the City of Huntsville where he served nearly 35 years. He retired as Director of Public Works in 2001, having overseen numerous significant city infrastructure projects. His former employee Bill Daugette sums it up best: "You served a community that has no idea how much better off they are because of what you did."
