Heaven gained another angel on Thursday, January 12, 2017 when Fred Jason "J-Rock" Barnes was called home to be with the Lord at the young age of 38.
Jason was born May 26, 1978 in Houston, TX to Fred and Shyrul Barnes. He married his best friend and soul mate Tara on March 15, 2014. On this date he also gained two fun-loving sons, Dillon and Chance.
Jason is survived by his wife Tara, sons Dillon and Chance, sister Kim Dunn-Smith and husband Matt, sister Amy Bullard and husband Scott, niece Natasha Belue and husband Avery, nephew Travis Dunn and wife Bridgett, mother and father-in-law Barbara and Rick Spangler, father-in-law Blu Phelps, sister-in-law Angela Ripperger and husband Aaron, brother-in-law Rob Gray and wife Kristina, brother-in-law Aaron Gray and wife Jennifer, nieces Alyson Copeland, Cassidy Bullard and Kendall Bullard, and Zowey Gray. He is also survived by many grand nieces and nephews and scores of friends to include his lifelong friends Wayne Hammock and family, and Keary Vaughn and family.
Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Shyrul Barnes, sister Sandra Buchanan, and niece Kayla Dunn.
Jason never met a stranger. He was known to many as "J-Rock" and called Jake by family and close friends. He was a family man that always wanted his family around. His world revolved around his wife and boys. When Jason wasn't tinkering in his shop, he loved loading up the jeeps to go mudding or hanging out around a big bonfire cutting up with friends. Jason was a role model and leader to many including the Walker County Truck Association.
