Gracie Lee (Baxter) Caraway, 79, of Huntsville, joined her Lord and Savior on May 31,2017 in Hempstead, Texas,  at the home of her son, surrounded by family.
She was born on May 1, 1938 in Clear Creek, West Virginia to Raymon and Lula Baxter. She married Roy Herman Caraway on November 10, 1954.
The couple raised their children in Cuero and later in Huntsville. Mrs. Caraway spent her life being a wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver for her husband. She also worked for the Houston Chronicle in Huntsville. During her retirement years she enjoyed time with her family, watching western movies, listening to country music and hanging out with her beloved dogs, Max and Tater.
Gracie will be missed by her family which includes her son- Roy Caraway Jr and wife, Karen; daughter, Nancy Chambless and husband, Randy; granddaughters- Kristina Miller, and husband, Joe; Carley Meredith and husband, Hardy, and Brooke Mayfield. Grandsons- Draymond Tucker Jr and wife, Theressa, Jake Caraway, Luke Mayfield,  and Steven Chambless and wife, Sandra. Granny will be greatly missed by her great grandchildren: Trey, Brayden, Macy, Jaxon, Hadlee, Rose, Penny, Caitlin, Isaiah, Nathaniel, Grayson and Kaleb. She is also survived by nephews: Buddy Caraway and wife, Lila, Roy Lee Hilbrich and family. She leaves behind her niece, Wanda Avila and husband, Ed and their children Aimee and David, she is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews
Mrs. Caraway was preceded in death by her husband, brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm on Saturday June 3rd at the Sam Houston Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, Tx. Viewing will be on Friday June 2nd from 5- 7 pm. Burial will follow at the Mayes Addition of the Oakwood Cemetery, in Huntsville. For those desiring, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
