Hardy's Story

Text size

Hardy Browder was born November 3, 1934 in Old Waverly, Texas to Robbie (Hardy) and Fielding Spiller Browder. He graduated from Coldspring High School where he met and later married Martha Ann (Hale). He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1957 and together they raised their family in Old Waverly.
He excelled in all sports and loved a challenge of any kind. He enjoyed meeting people wherever he was, shaking hands, and arguing. He loved breeding and riding good horses and had a special ability with them.
Hardy especially loved his family, his children and his grandchildren and was always proud to be the husband of Martha Ann. He was a rancher, cattleman and real estate broker and always a gentleman.
He was an elder at Waverly Presbyterian Church. He served on the board of 1st National Bank South Huntsville, was past President of COISD School Board; past President of San Jacinto County Farm Bureau, member of the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the National Cutting Horse Association, the American Quarter Horse Association as well as many other organizations.
He is preceeded in death by his infant daughter, Amy Lois, his mother, Robbie and father, Fielding S Browder; his brothers, John F and Robbie (Bob). He leaves behind his wife, Martha Ann; children, Fielding (Angela); daughter, Martha Carol Giese (Terry); and daughter Leigh Ann Elmore (Kyle) and grandchildren; Kolt and Riley Browder, Hardy and Kathryn Giese, Julia and Sarah Elmore, the Victor Sauceda family and a host of other friends and relatives
It seems to family that this is the end of an era, but Hardy's legacy will live on through his grandchildren that he loves so much. You'll recognize him in their faces, their handshakes, their smiles and sometimes their stubbornness.
All these things are part of the Hardy Browder we knew but one thing above all else is important - His faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his assurance of eternal salvation.
He would want so much for each one of you to consider and accept Jesus Christ as your own Lord and Savior and to have eternal life.
Hardy's family thanks the staff at Virginia's Lakeside Home and Virginia's Hospice for the genuine love and care they have provided Hardy for the last several years.
The family requests that memorials be sent to: Waverly Presbyterian Church, 591 Browder Loop W, New Waverly, Texas 77358.
