James Alan Black


James Alan Black, Sr., 73, went home following his long battle with health problems caused by Agent Orange. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Opal, brothers Homer and David along with sister Wanda, and son Robert. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cheri, his brother Bill, sister Patty who helped care for him. He is also survived by son James Jr. (Mary and 2 Grandchildren) and daughter Joie (Richard and 5 Grandchildren), daughter-in-law Lindy (7 grandchildren) ,and many Great Grandchildren. Jim served 20 years in the United States Air Force and then retired with 20 years of service with the Texas Department of Corrections. Many thanks to Dr. Lawrence Wells, Dr. Edward Flores, Dr. Hussein Yamani and his other physicians for taking such good care of Jim thru the years. The family request that in lieu of flowers a donation should be made to the local American Heart Association or the local American Cancer Association. There will be a Graveside service held Monday May 6, 2019 at 10:45 at the Houston National Cemetery. You may also send your condolences to the family by visiting www.shmfh.com
