Jan's Story

In the afternoon of Friday, November 17th Jan Arthur Gustafson died peacefully in his recliner, his beloved wife of 56 years at his side.
He graduated in 1961 from Sam Houston State University and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After completing his military service in 1967 Jan had a successful career in the restaurant industry. He retired in 2000 and devoted his remaining years to his passions: his farm and its many gardens, his beloved family and his relationship with the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughter Kara (Greg) Salomon; sons Jon, Kenneth (Tammy), and Jan "Gus" Arthur, Jr., and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Nathaniel (Stephany; Coltyn, Kamryn, Cannyn) Gustafson, Ashton Gustafson, Courtney (Glenn; Amiah) McCarty, Olivia Salomon, Natalie (Ty; Keelie) Salmon, Daniel Salomon, Jordan (Jarrell; Karter, Gabby, Zoe) Davenport, Thomas Salomon, Garrett Gustafson, Grace Gustafson, Tyler Gustafson, as well as his beloved brother Kurt Gustafson (Jeanne) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A devoted Catholic, Jan's funeral will be held Wednesday, November 22nd at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church; Rosary at 10:00am followed by his funeral mass at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jan's name to your favorite charities.
