Jeanne Eleanor Anderson Jeanne St. Martin Anderson passed away on September 24, 2018, at the age of 98. Born on December 28, 1919, in Minneapolis, MN, she was the second of five children of the late George and Elsie St. Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Anderson, 4 siblings, great-granddaughter, and a son-in-law. She is survived by her five children Sue (Bob) Weaver, Patty (Roger) Tedford, Katie Doyle, Joan (Jack Ross) Anderson, Jim (Gretchen) Anderson, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Jeanne grew up and went to school in Minnesota. She attended The Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis and graduated in 1941. She was an Army nurse and met her husband at Strother Army Field in Kansas. The two were married and started their family, settling in Huntsville where they made their permanent home. She was a full time mother, school nurse with the Huntsville Public Schools, longtime volunteer at Huntsville Memorial Hospital, and was a dedicated member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church.
In retirement she fulfilled her love of travel with trips to the family cabin at BearTrap Ranch in Colorado, visiting children and grandchildren across the US, and internationally with visits to more than 30 countries between 1983 and 2002. Jeanne learned to use the computer and kept connected with email, was an avid walker, and loved volunteering. She enjoyed her time at the hospital where she earned the nickname "Speedy" as she took patients around in wheel chairs and made her rounds. She officially retired at the age of 96.
Services were held on Tuesday, October 2, at the Huntsville United Methodist Church at 11 am.
It was her wish that instead of floral tributes, contributions be made to: Volunteer Nurses Organization at Huntsville Memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice.
