John was one of the best men that I was blessed enough to cross paths with in my life. He was a wonderful example of what a true Christian man was. He lived it all day everyday. What a beautiful family he and his incredible wife raised. John made a huge impact in my life by his example and I doubt he even knew it. Prayers to Mrs. Fortner, Gayla, Bucker and all their family.

Such a gentleman who taught with kindness and lived as a real Christian. Not many more like him. He will be remembered by many. My sympathies to Patsy and Gayla.

What a great man, and positive influence, on many kids that were blessed to have Coach Fortner as our PE coach, and also witnessed him leading music at Northside Baptist Church many years ago. I know you will be missed by many. My sympathies to Mrs. Fortner and kids.
