John Bertram Montgomery
John B. Montgomery of Riverside, Texas passed away January 13, 2018 in Houston, Texas at the age of 81. Born November 20, 1936 in Oglesby, Texas, John is preceded in death by his parents Otis and Margaret Montgomery and son Michael Montgomery.
John retired after fifteen years of service, as an architect, from Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He served as a member of the Riverside City Council, was on the board of directors of C.O.M.E., officer of the Riverside Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Joe Werner Masonic Lodge. He was an architect in private practice. Among some of his many designs are Old Town Theatre and The Prison Museum in Huntsville, and the Masonic Temple in Houston, TX. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and mowing the lawn. John was a faithful member and active Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville, where he sang in the choir for many years.
John is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Christine Hennerich, children William Montgomery and wife Ranci, Maggie Laurie Munroe and husband Charles, Scott Montgomery and wife Terri, stepsons Michael Edward Hennerich and wife Shalon, Jerry Lee Anderson, James Anderson, Jeffrey Anderson, and John Ray Anderson. He will also be missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and neighbors.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville.
