Kerry's Story

Kerry Don Randolph passed away peacefully on September 8, 2017, at the age of 67. He was born in Pittsburg, Texas on November 27, 1949 to parents Theda Jennell Kennemer and Ralph William Randolph. Kerry graduated from Bellaire High School, Bellaire, Texas in 1968 and attended Sam Houston State University. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1972 and a Masters of Business Administration in 1976.
Shortly after receiving his BBA in 1972, Kerry was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Heilbronn, Germany as a Pershing Missile crewman. In 1974, he was Honorably discharged having earned several commendation medals, and returned to Texas to receive his MBA. He accepted employment in the Accounting Department of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice while attending SHSU and worked for TDCJ in the Accounting Department until his retirement in 2003 with over 31 years of service.
Kerry loved the outdoors, especially bass fishing and dove hunting and was an accomplished marksman throughout his life. His first rifle was purchased from a Sears-Roebuck catalogue, and remains cherished by his children to this day. He was an avid baseball fan particularly of the Astrosand throughout his many years of life he enjoyed the diamond by pitching for his high school baseball team, and coaching little league for his two sons. Kerry was a product of the 60s, a devoted LedZepplin fan, and would listen to music for hours while he enjoyed his two greatest vices, a cold beer and a cigarette. He loved a great story, an inappropriate joke, and above all, laughter.
Kerry was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Jennell Randolph, his sister, Sheila Randolph Taylor, brother-in-law, Don Taylor, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest Joseph and Lila Louise King, and brother-in-law, Ardell Jennings. He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Debbie), two sons, Michael Scott Randolph of Austin, Texas, Jeffrey Keith Randolph of Huntsville, Texas, and one daughter, Lindsey Kaye Randolph of Huntsville, Texas, and one English Springer Spaniel puppy, Sophie, also of Huntsville. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Beverly Jennings, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Angela and Scott Smith and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chris and Sandy King, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
The family will receive family and friends from 4:30 PM till 6:00 PM on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. A private graveside service will be held at Mayes Addition Cemetery, Huntsville, Texas.
