Lanelle Williamson died on May 9, 2018, in Palestine after extended illnesses. She was born in Madisonville, TX. on October 9, 1935. She attended school there through 1949, when the family moved to Huntsville. Lanelle graduated from Huntsville High School as Valedictorian in 1953. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Library Science from Sam Houston State Teachers College and a Master of Library Science from Sam Houston University.
She was married to Ross Robert Williamson in 1955 and worked at the TAMU library while he finished his DVM degree. After living in several locations, they settled in Palestine 1967. She worked 16 years as librarian at Westwood ISD and retired from Palestine High School library after 25 years of service. She also served as librarian for several churches, where she was very active in their church choirs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ross Robert Williamson, and her parents, H.A. (Bab) and Lillie Stewart. Survivors are her sister, Marie Stewart Frankson (Courtland) their daughter, Sharon Frankson (Daniel Murphy), niece Annie Murphy and nephew Jack Murphy: also brother-in-law George Williamson, nieces Wendy Williamson Roberts (Roy), Julie Williamson Ausbrook (Thomas), nephew Jason Ross Williamson (Donna Craig) Williamson, four great-nieces and three great nephews.
Graveside services will be in Bedias Baptist Cemetery, Bedias, TX, at 1:30 P.M. on May 12, 2018 with Rev. Matthew Timmons officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Norwood Heights Baptist Church, 2214 Hwy 155, Palestine, Texas 75803.
