Marla's Story

Marla Jean Spittler passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016 in Leander Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday January 28th at First Presbyterian Church Chapel in Huntsville with the Reverend Dr. Tim Olesky officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church immediately following the Service.
Marla was born in Joinerville, Texas on June 24, 1938, to James Paul and Pauline Caldwell Hilton. Her family moved to Nederland, TX where she graduated as Salutatorian from Nederland High School. She married her Navy hero, Virgil "Bill" Spittler and started raising their family in Nederland.
They moved to Huntsville in 1973 where they opened Spittler Electric and MJ Lighting where she enjoyed sharing her talents in lighting design. She also enjoyed her leadership role in the Huntsville Business and Professional Women's Club. She later managed the dental practice of her brother, Dr. Phillip Hilton, for a number of years.
Preceding Marla in death are her parents, her daughter, Sheri Spittler-Davenport, her younger sister, Ginny Hilton, her brother, James "Bubba" Hilton, and her sister-in-law, Georgeanna Hilton.
Marla is survived by her son, Wade Spittler, her daughter-in-law, Melokka Spittler, her son-in-law, John Davenport, her grandchildren, Kirsten Spittler-Icenhower (Asher), Lauren Spittler, and William Davenport, her brothers Phillip Hilton (Betty) and Paul Rhyan Hilton (Venetta), as well as several nieces and nephews and their children.
