Melba's Story

Text size

Melba Joan (Savage) Curry, 84, went into the arms of her Savior on January 18, 2018. She was born in Ralls, Texas on November 25, 1933 to Ellis and Bertha (Nicholson) Savage. Joan was a beautiful example of someone living a Christian life.
Joan grew up the in the panhandle of Texas, living there most of the early years of her life. She moved to south Texas, working for Pettus Independent School District, where she retired. She moved to
Fredericksburg, then finally to Oakhurst where she lived with her daughter.
She loved to have fun and always had a funny story to share. She loved to play games whether it was 42 or cards. She was always ready to play, but really liked to win. Most of all, Joan loved her Lord, and she wanted everyone else to share that love.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, and her daughter, Julia Kelley. She is survived by one sister, Pernecia Hull (Jimmy) of Lubbock, son, Leslie Tomme (Carolynn) of Gatesville, daughter, Melanie Burleson (David) of Oakhurst, son-in-law, Jerry Kelley of Fredericksburg, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends too numerous to count.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2 pm at Grace Community Church at Waterwood, Texas.
