Michael's Story

Michael Roy Hobbs was born on April 24, 1950 in Plattsburg, NY and passed away Tuesday June 21, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, TX.
Mike proudly served in the U.S Army and completed a tour in Vietnam. When he was Honorably Discharged, he relocated to Texas. He held numerous jobs in sales and construction before starting his career with the City of Sugar Land in 1986. He served as Public Works Director before becoming CIP Manager. His final project for the city was the construction of Constellation Field which is the home of the Sugar Land Skeeter's. Mike was extremely proud of the role he played in bringing minor league baseball to Sugar Land. He retired from the city in 2013.
Mike was an avid sports fan, especially of baseball and football, and was known to place a friendly wager from time to time. A devoted animal lover, he regularly rescued cats and dogs. Mike was a legendary storyteller and made friends wherever he went. He was also a founding member of the Hobbs Family Lollipop Guild.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Theresa Hobbs. He is survived by his sister, Nancy LeFevre and husband Stephen of Morrisonville, NY; brothers, John Hobbs, and wife Kathy, James Hobbs, and wife Tina, and Joe Hobbs and partner, Deb; numerous nieces and nephews; and former wife and best friend, Pam Hobbs.
The Family will be receiving friends for visitation, Monday, June 26, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 7:00 p.m., at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 S. Kirkwood, Stafford, TX 77477.
At the request of the family donations in memory of Mike may be made to Westbury Care (Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts) at Westburycare.com in lieu of flowers and usual remembrances.
