Peter Paul "Pete" Townsend

Peter Paul Pete Townsend Peter Paul Townsend, AKA Pete or Pop, a Master Barber and owner of Fairway Barber Shop, passed in peace at his home in Huntsville, Texas on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the age of 68. His parents, J. Paul Townsend and Rose Marie Ellis-Jones, stepfather Clarence Jones and former wife and friend, Peggy May Townsend, preceded him in death. He had a close relationship with his stepson, Peter Allen Elmer, AKA: Pete Lite and was the loving, proud Pop of daughter and son-in-law, Kelley and Rob McCurry, granddaughter and son-in-law, Brittnie and Todd Gutirez, grandson and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Kayla Ussery, and his three great-grandchildren, Landon and Madison Gutirez and Teagan Ussery.
Pete proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968-1972. He continued serving his country through countless hours of volunteer efforts for organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project.
Family and friends will fondly remember him for his sense of humor, love of music, soft heart for helping others, including stray dogs after losing his beloved Alice the Wonder Dog, and his love and respect for this great nation and all those who serve and have served. He was certainly one of a kind and his absence will be felt deeply.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. A closed casket memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 5, 2018 in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas.
Flowers are a welcome expression of sympathy and certainly appreciated, but instead of flowers and to honor Pete, the family requests that you make a contribution in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
