Becky, as she was known to friends and family was released from her suffering and reunited with those that she has loved and missed so much on Friday, November 17, 2017 surrounded by members of her family. She was born in Tallahassee, FL and raised in Refugio, TX. Becky worked for the HEB grocery chain as well as a manager for C & C Texaco and the gift store at the Sam Houston monument. She will be remembered for her kindness, mercy, and for being the life of any party. She and her husband of 28 years, Gilbert Koehl, loved each other fiercely and were best friends for life.
Becky is preceded in death by her parents, Luther Antoine Wattigny and Lena Mae Naylor, her daughter, Tracy Denise Barber, and granddaughter, Lacey Denise Sanders. In addition to Gilbert, she is survived by sisters Cheryl Webster, Johnnie (Jose) Fernandez, Julie Sawyer, Susie (Bert) Lyle, son, Gene (Carie) Barber, stepdaughter, Christi (Chris) Casey, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 24th at 10:00 am at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home followed by a reception at the Riverside Fire Department.
