Rev. Ernest Lee Lewis


On December 15, 1943 in Refugio , Texas the Lord saw fit to bestow upon the union of the late Ms. Jeroel M. Lewis and Mr. Claude Greenwood an anointed son , whom they named Ernest Lee Lewis. He attended Refugio Independent school district and excelled in academics as well as in sports. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for six years, one year was spent during the Vietnam War. After being Honorably discharged, he furthered his education at Sam Houston State University, and Theological Seminary in Conroe, Texas.
While living in Huntsville, Rev. Lewis was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church where he preached his first sermon and became an ordained minster under the leadership of Rev. V.A. Haynes. Rev. Lewis was pastoral at two churches while residing in Huntsville, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Anderson, Texas and Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas. Rev. Lewis remarried and relocated to Chicago, IL.
He leaves to cherish and carry on his Legacy his wife of thirty one years Renetta Lewis, three daughters: Michelle Y. Katambani (John), Pamela L. Ivory, and Vanessa A. Lewis. Three sons: Michael D. Lewis, Patrick O. Lewis(Michelle), and Jevon Covington , siblings: Rev. Oscar T. Lewis (Gail), Rev. Eugene Lewis (Patty) , and Lavoyn Simmons , 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
