Robert  Carter


Robert Nathan "Nick" Carter, age 96, passed away on Sunday April 21, 2019 in Huntsville, Texas. Robert was born January 18, 1923 in Rover, Yell County, Arkansas.
Robert retired from the United States Air Force as an ET Master Sargent. He served in WWII European Campaign; 492nd BOMB GROUP WWII from May 11, 1944 to August 7, 1944 and also served two tours in Viet Nam. He came to Pasadena, Texas in 1969 after retiring from the Air Force. In 1980, he moved to Riverside, "Lakeland", Texas. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Robert loved to fish. He was a master wood worker and craftsman. He also was a great story teller and loved working crossword puzzles, which he would do every day. Robert attended many VFW dinners at the VFW in Conroe, Texas where he loved to socialize about the military.
Robert was predeceased by his son, James Otto Harper (1968).
Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Jo Carter; sons Jack Carter and wife Janet of Pueblo, Colorado and Dean Carter of Bellingham, Washington and Hawaii. He is also survived by his brother in law, Bobby Ray Harper of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; niece and nephew, Mary and Johnny Harper of Riverside, Texas; and his great nieces and nephews: Jason Harper and Kristen Harper and daughter, Keegan of Montgomery, Texas; Wayne Moody and Janna and son Michael of Liberty, Texas; Kimberly Harper Robinson and Shawn Robinson and daughter, Kinley and son, Kylar of Hempstead, Texas; Debra Harper Crossland and Robert Crossland of Kansas City, Missouri; Diane Harper Shackleton and David Shackleton of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Michael and Robin Harper of Ochelata, Oklahoma.
Robert's many loved ones and special friends, David and Cheryl Cummings and Jim and Celia Boney, all of Huntsville, Texas and Ray and Janice Whitney of Willis, Texas, will dearly miss him.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm at Grand View Funeral Home. Robert will be laid to rest with military honors at Grand View Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas immediately following the services.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church - Riverside, Fm 980 & Hwy 19 2341 Fm 980 East, Riverside, TX 77367.
