Wilburn Vernon Cox, Sr. was born on July 23, 1919 in Walker County to Jessie and Iveno Cox. On January 21, 2017 he passed away surrounded by his family that loved him dearly. Wilburn, age 97, a Christian man and a devoted family man, is survived by his family that includes his loving wife of 70 years: Bessie Myra Cox; of Huntsville, TX., sons: Wilburn V. Cox, Jr. (Vivian) and Gregory Cox; both of Huntsville, TX., daughter-in-law, Judy Cox; of New Waverly, TX., devoted nephew and niece: Don Grover (Pam) and Brenda Overton (Lyndon); both of Cleburne, TX., sister-in-laws: Emma Williams, Dr. Naomi Lede, and Ernestine Joseph; all of Huntsville, TX., 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, St. Paul U.M.C. family, and additional relatives and friends. Friday, January 27, 2017, 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. viewing will be held at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Friends and family will gather to celebrate a life well lived Saturday, January 28, 2017, 12:00 P.M. at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Harper Cemetery in Huntsville.
