Alice's Story

Alice Russell, 90, of Huntsville, Texas went to be with her Lord December 21, 2016 after a brief illness. Born February 22, 1926 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Tom Parks and Bessie Gwyneth Jones. She married the love of her life, Calvin Russell, December 23, 1945. After her husband's career of 40 years with Exxon, they settled in Trinity, Texas until 2005 when they moved to Huntsville, Texas.
She devoted her life to raising her children, was an accomplished china painter and loved to square dance. She spent many hours sewing and quilting and just being creative. She loved to take something plain and turn it into a masterpiece. She loved people and most of all her Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her son, David Russell.
She is survived by her daughter, Daris Russell Horn and husband, Norman of Huntsville, Texas. Grandchildren Stephen Heering and wife Crissy, Charles Heering and step-daughter Karen Horn Pustejovsky and husband Andrew. 5 great grandchildren Travis, Tyler, Skyler, Heather Andrews and husband Randy and Sara Lisotta and husband Wesley and great-great grandchildren Ashley, Austin, Noah, Austin Lee, Samantha, Kaden and Mason, brother-in-law Cecil Russell and wife Doris, sister-in-laws, Wanda James, Wanell Shaw and Willene Bonafield, numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Texas at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 with burial to follow at Brooke Cemetery. Visitation will be observed on Monday, December 26, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas.
