Alton Eathell Looney, 90, of Oakhurst, Texas went home to his Lord and Savior on September 4, 2016. He was born on September 11, 1925 in Houston, Texas to John Looney and Carrie Blasette Looney.
Alton will be remembered as a loving, caring and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a devoted Christian man who gave of his time as one the Master's Builders, traveling all over building churches. He spent much of his time helping others.
Alton served his country in WWII as an U. S. Naval man. While in the Navy he was part of the Naval Boxing team. Upon retirement from the navy he went to work at Phillips Oil/Gas Company and later retired in 1988.
Alton is survived by his beloved wife Rosedell Looney; daughter Sandra West and husband Sam; Regina Gildon and husband Jeff; grandson Tony West; granddaughter Renee Robson and husband Steve; granddaughter Katie Gildon; granddaughter Ashley Stroble and husband David; Brandon O'Neill and wife April; great-grandchildren Luke, Rebecca, Garrett, Aiden, Sebastian and Ethan; sister Maureen Cude; brother D.L. Looney; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Carrie Looney; sister Mertain; and brothers Zeke Looney, Lamone Looney, and Gerald Looney.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 with the funeral service to begin at 12:00 p.m. (noon) in the chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Interment will follow the service at Center Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst, Texas.
