Billy Lloyd Woods, 68, was born in Huntsville, Texas to Billy and Joyce Woods on June 1, 1948. He is a graduate of Huntsville High School (Class of 1967) and was a longtime resident and a retired Food Service Manager with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Billy was well known for entertaining his friends and family by singing and playing the guitar.
Billy loved to travel with his wife and more specifically to Puerto Villarta, Mexico. He was a culinary genius, and loved to receive reviews from friends and family of his latest recipes. Billy was an active member of the Westwood Shores Fishing Club and spent many hours educating others on fish conservation. Billy loved music; he mostly loved 1960's rock-n-roll music and the Blues. He was a longtime member at Wesley United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Texas. More than anything he loved his wife of 49 years and nothing brought him more joy than to spend time with Jackie relaxing on the Mexico beaches.
Billy was preceded by his father Billy, his mother Joyce, his younger brother Ronnie and his wife Jackie Townley Woods. He is survived by his daughter Kelly King and son-n-law Wade King, his daughter Stacie Woods, his daughter Christie Woods and son-n-law Colin Guinn. Billy had six grandchildren, Brittanie, Alex, Lesley, Ross, Achilles and Cruz and one great grandson Jack. He is also survived by his sister Carol Ann McGilberry and brother-n-law Danny and his brother Johnny Woods and his sister-n-law Cheryl along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Clothed By An Angel Ministry with the First Methodist Church, 131 N. Elm Street Trinity, Texas 75862.
All are welcome to join for Billy's Celebration of Life memorial service, to be held at the McAdams Chapel located at 1251 FM 1696 Road W, Huntsville, Texas 77320 on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Visitation begins at 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM with services beginning at 4:00 PM.
