Charles's Story

Charles Alvin Zang, 81 years old of Huntsville, Texas, passed away on February 27, 2017 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.  He was born on January 12, 1936 in St Louis, Misssouri to Joseph Zang and May McGuire Zang.
Charles retired from the US Air Force and Ozark Airlines.  After his retirement, he became involved in the residential renovation and rental market.  When he was not volunteering, he loved to travel with his beloved wife and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren sharing stories of his colorful childhood memories.
In addition, he contributed countless hours to community involvement serving his church through participation at St. Vincent de Paul, as a church money counter and assisting the community with affordable housing through Habitat for Humanity.  He was an active member of St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Huntsville, Texas frequently standing by to be of assistance to anyone in need.  His main mission in life was to Serve the Lord through the Mystical Body of Christ.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife Marlene Zang.  He is survived by his son Gregory M. Zang, daughter Cynthia Brock and husband Richard, and three grandchildren, Kristen Marie Petersen, and husband Cody, Ashley Nicole Swinford and husband Justin, Adam Charles Brock and spouse Gregory Key and four great grandchildren.
Services for Charles will be Tuesday, March 7th at 10:00 am at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Huntsville, Texas.  Visitation will be Monday, March 6th from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home with a Rosary following at 6:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Vincent de Paul in care of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Huntsville, Texas.
