Clarence's Story

Clarence Homer Pool, 86, of Richards, Texas passed away July 27, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family and Pastor. He was born June 12, 1930 to Clarence Eben and Hattie Lou Pool in Richards.
Homer is preceded in death by his parents and brother Travis Pool. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Elsie; beloved son Ricky and daughter-in-law Lydia; and two precious grandchildren Cody and Cassidy; brother Joey; brothers-in-law Boone Hoke and John Harris; sisters-in-law Sharon Welch, Debbie Hoke, LaDell Harris and Brenda Pool; many nieces and nephews; and his many caring church families and friends.
Funeral services will be under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Bays Chapel United Methodist Church, 24263 Bays Chapel Road, Richards, Texas, with Pastors Terry Teykl and Eric Dehmer officiating. Burial will follow the service at Bays Chapel Cemetery in Richard, Texas.
Homer graduated from Reagan High School in Houston. Afterwards he proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He went to Radar School at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas for 10 months and was then sent to Alaska as a Radar mechanic. While there he received a Letter of Commendation from his Major for his services. After his discharge he went to work for Schlumberger Oil Well Services. He retired in 1982 after 28 years of service. He then came home to Richards to Ranching and Custom Hay Baling. He enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, hunting and spending time his friends and family. He will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful and loving family man and a friend to all. He was a faithful member of Bays Chapel United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bays Chapel United Methodist Church or Bays Chapel Cemetery.
We would like to thank Encompass Hospice in College Station for the wonderful, loving care they gave Homer for the past year. We were so blessed to the have them with us.
