Dewey's Story

Dewey Levon Miller, 83, of Huntsville Texas, went to be with his Lord and savior on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at his home.
Dewey was born in Lebanon, Oklahoma August 22, 1933 to Alvie and Ulalalicyah (Bales) Miller, the next to oldest of four children; sister, Winona (Miller) Blalock, and brothers Wayne and Clayton Miller.
From December 1953 to December 1956 he joined the United States Marine Corps, served in the Korean War and received an honorable discharge as Sergeant.
Dewey was a 53 year member of the Forrest Masonic Lodge #19 in Huntsville, TX.
Worked several years for his brother-in-law, Dr. Raymond Blalock at Blalock Clinic in Huntsville and later opened his own business, Huntsville Optical as an optician.
From 1986 to 2000, he served as Constable of Walker County, Precinct 1 which followed in his retirement. Dewey always enjoyed bailing hay for the citizens of Walker County, working cows, raising horses, being surrounded by family and friends and spending time at the Hitchin Post Truck Stop.
Dewey is survived by his daughters Joni Dobraski and late husband Lawrence Dobraski, Robin Miller, Staci Baker, Page Burleyson and son-in-law Joey Burleyson; son Dewey Miller II and daughter-in-law Paige Miller; grandchildren Dustin Dobraski and wife Haley, Dane Dobraski and wife Michaelanne; Brittni Rouse and husband Matt, Brent Baker and wife Sarah, Koby and Kolton Adams, Alyssa, Jamie and Melanie Burleyson, Ava Woods, London and Zoe Miller; great-grandchildren Kylie and Dawson Dobraski and David and Maya Ventura; brother Wayne Miller; sister Winonia (Miller) Blalock; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; devoted friend for many years, he was always by his side in time of need James E. Simon and daughter Aunika. He is preceded in death by his mother Ulalalicyah Miller Thomason; father Alvie Olen Miller; step-father Joseph H. Thomason; and brother Clayton Olen Miller
Visitation will be held Friday, June 9th from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, TX 77340 followed by a celebration of life service on Saturday, June 10th at 10:00 am in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family ask, that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Lone Survivor Foundation.
