Dr. Ted's Story
Dr. Ted Vaughan age 83, of Katy, TX, died Friday, September 22, 2017.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27,2017 in Fairview Cemetery in Wellington, TX with Rev. Vince Vaughan of Minneapolis and Mike Lewis of Blooming Grove, TX officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
Ted was born on October 9, 1933 in Wellington, to Rev. Arthur Raymond and Vida Lou Reeves Vaughan.
He graduated from McCamey High School in 1951 and received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Sam Houston State Teachers College. He earned his Doctorate of Philosophy degree from the University of Texas, where he was named outstanding graduate student in Sociology at the age of 30.
He taught social studies at John S. Gillette Junior High School in Kingsville and night classes at The Walls unit of the TDCJ in Huntsville. Dr. Vaughan was a professor of sociology at the University of Corpus Christi, Ohio State University and retired as Professor Emeritus after 29 years at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Leonard Vaughan and a nephew Rodney Vaughan.
His survivors include a son Teddy Vaughan of Katy; sister Gwen Lewis of Coleman, TX; brother Ben Vaughan and wife Judy of Plano, TX; his grandson Lindsey Vaughan and wife Chloe of Katy and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Wellington Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 321, Wellington, TX 79095.
