Dwight's Story

Dwight Coleman Utley, 66, of Hubbard, Texas has gone to be with his Lord on May 25, 2017 in Shenandoah, Texas. He passed away due to complications from heart failure.
Dwight Utley, the son of the late Rex Coleman and the late Louise Campbell Utley was born on January 25, 1951 in Olton, Texas. He was joined in holy matrimony to Judy Smith Utley on July 28, 2001 in Dickinson, Texas.
Mr. Utley is survived by his wife, Judy Utley; brother Mike Utley and sister-in-law Brenda Utley; and sisters Patti and Retha Utley. Dwight is also survived by nieces Cori Utley Mooney, Amber Ford, Cece Ford; nephew Eric Ford; step-daughter Darla Bailes and husband John Bailes; stepsons Mike Engelhardt and wife Kathy, Chris Engelhardt and wife Mindy; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-nephews, and one great-niece.
Mr. Utley attended and graduated from Huntsville High School in 1970. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in September 1977. He graduated from Texas State Technical Institute in Waco, Texas. He Retired from Gulf Coast Waste and Water Disposal in Texas City, Texas after 30 years. He and his wife then retired to Hubbard, Texas.
Dwight was avid photographer and a member of the Texas Muzzle Loaders Association.
Dwight attended the Gospel Assembly Church in Dickinson, Texas for a number of years and had recently joined the Hubbard Christian Fellowship in Hubbard, Texas.
Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home will be directing the services with visitation on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 6-8pm; and the Celebration of Life on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 1pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Mayes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or the American Heart Association at donatenow.heart.org.
