On Sunday, August 21, 2016, Edyth "Rudy" Harrelson Zarske, at the age of 92, went to take her place in Heaven with the Lord. She was the wife of the late Herman W. Zarske.
Mrs. Zarske was born in Weldon, Texas on the 9th of November 1923 to Herbert and Mary Lou Reeves Harrelson. She was the 3rd child of 14 children born to Hebert and Mary Lou Harrelson, in addition to the 5 half siblings from her father's previous marriage.
Edyth R. Harrelson and Herman W. Zarske were married in Trinity, Texas on August 31, 1946. They lived there until moving to Houston Texas in July of 1955. She enjoyed being a housewife, mother and regularly volunteered at the elementary school where her daughter attended. She was a devout member of Almeda Baptist Church until moving to Shepherd, Texas upon the death of her husband in 1980. She became a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church where she spent much of her free time volunteering in various church activities. She also volunteered at the local food pantry in Shepherd which helped distribute food to less fortunate families in the area. In 2011, she moved to Huntsville, Texas to be closer to her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mary Lou Harrelson, her husband, Herman W. Zarske. Brothers; Howard, Fred, Elmo and Daniel "Buck" Harrelson. Sisters; Vera Middleton, Inez Lee, Chrystel Little, Gladys Harrelson, Linnie Morgan, June Price and Margie Johnson.
Survived by: Daughter, Elsa Glover and her husband Jimmie; Grandson J. Bryon Glover and his wife, Emily; Granddaughter, Stephanie Glover Ray and her husband Eddie. Great-grandchilren; Tyler and Taryn Glover, Taylor Trobaugh and Slade, Dagan and Saxon Ray. Sisters; Berta Mae Hyde, Bonnie Gilbert, Ella Andrews, Odessa Wilson, Frances Commander and Esta Faye Lawson and brother Herbert Harrelson Jr. "Bunk", and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at the Waller-Thornton Funeral Home on FM 980 in Huntsville, Texas. Visitation 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 25th and Funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26th.
