Gene Clifford Harrison, 83, of Huntsville, Texas passed away on December 4, 2016. He was born on January 10, 1933 at Nunn's Creek in Mackinac County, Michigan to Clifford Wellington Harrison and Dorothy Simmons Harrison.
Gene faithfully answered his country's call and served in the Infantry of the Unites States Army during the Korean Conflict.
After attending Detroit Bible Institute and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, Gene faithfully served the Lord as a minister to Rudyard Bible Church of Rudyard, Michigan from 1962 to 1971 and Grace Bible Church of Fibre, Michigan from 1971 to 1995. He attended Berachah Church of Houston, Texas and Fellowship of Huntsville Church, Huntsville, Texas.
Gene lived most of his life in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He and his wife Vera wintered in Texas, at Huntsville and McAllen. He owned and operated Harrison Wood Products. He was a member of Northern Great Lakes Fur Harvesters and Straits Area Sportsmen's Club. He was a Master Wood Carver of North American wildlife and birds, an avid fisherman and musician, who sang and played the mandolin.
Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Vera Knoy Harrison; son Brian Harrison of Cedarville, Michigan; daughter Lynne Piippo and husband Gerald of Huntsville, Texas; son Nathan Harrison and wife Pam of Cedarville, Michigan; grandchildren Jesse Piippo and wife Liz, Brooke Monette and husband Adam, Tiffany Haske and husband Eric, Cassandra Svendsen and husband Mike, Alexis Harrison, Austin Harrison and fiancé Heather Rodriguez, Lacy Seely and husband Nathan, Nikki Nye and husband Randy, Tristen Jurek and husband Josh, Niles Harrison, Candice Short and husband Cyle and Tara Massey; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Lois Lordson and husband Tony of Rapid River, Michigan and Marie Grogan of St. Ignace, Michigan; brother-in-law John Knoy of Huntsville, Texas; and sister-in-law Nancy Reno and husband Floyd. He is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Dorothy Harrison; brothers David Harrison and John Harrison.
On Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. a wake will be held in his memory at the home of Lynne Piippo, 9 Cedar Court, Huntsville, Texas.
Memorial services will be held in Michigan the summer of 2017.
