Jean Elizabeth Byrne, a long time resident of Hunstville, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 2, 2016 at the age of 86. She was born in Hempstead, New York to Mary and Chauncey Seedorf. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Thomas Joseph Byrne, Jr., and her son, Kenneth Robert Byrne. She is survived by her three daughters Linda Burg, Diane and husband Richard Birdwell, and Nancy Byrne, and daughter-in-law, Barbara Byrne. Jean is also survived by grandchildren Matthew, Daniel and wife Alicia, Jeffrey and wife Veronica, Andrew and wife Allie, Stephanie and husband Brian, and Mark and wife Jesse, along with several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Mae Seedorf, and her brothers Reverend Warren Seedorf and Raymond Seedorf. Jean was an amazing wife, mother and homemaker. She loved to cook for family and friends. Her hobbies included gardening, golf, fishing and reading, along with playing bridge, bunco and canasta. Jean was a devout Catholic and spent much time serving her church. One of her greatest accomplishments was establishing a "newcomers" group at both her parish in Florida and at St. Thomas the Apostle in Huntsville. For many years, she volunteered weekly at a resale shop in Fernandina Beach, FL, where the proceeds went to serve others in crisis. Jean will be remembered for her bright smile, her kind heart and her great sense of humor. A funeral service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1603 Avenue N, Huntsville, Texas at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016.
