Jesse James Oates, 54, went home to be with His Lord on January 24, 2017. His devotion to his family and his salvation through Jesus Christ gives us comfort knowing he is in heaven.
Jesse was born to James Wyatt Oates, Jr. and Alta Christilles Oates on December 13, 1962. He graduated from Huntsville High School and went on to retire from TDCJ as a Program Specialist. He was employed at Carolina Creek Christian Camp at the time of his passing. He truly seemed to have found his calling in the camp surroundings and with the people he worked with.
Jesse's interest and passions were many, foremost was his love of people, how things worked and why, the outdoors, the world at large, and so much more.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Velma Oates, his mother, Alta Oates and sister-in-law Martha Oates. Preceded in death by his father, James Wyatt Oates, Jr., brother, James Wyatt Oates III and his grandparents.
Children were important to Jesse and he wanted them to learn about the love of Jesus. So, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carolina Creek Christian Camp.
He seemed to have touched everyone he met and will be truly missed by many.
