Lavicy's Story

Lavicy "Cookie" Davis went home to be with the Lord on Friday August 26th of 2016. She is survived by her daughter Reba Nicole Brown, grandchildren Christopher Elijah Brown, Braylon Phelps, and Myles Phelps, as well as a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.
Lavicy "Cookie" Davis was born on Tuesday June 7, 1955 to James and Thelma Davis in Conroe, Texas. She was baptized at an early age, taking Christ as her Lord and Savior. She graduated Booker T. Washington High School in Conroe, Texas. She went on to attend Prairie View A&M University to pursue a degree in journalism. She later moved to Huntsville, Texas where she became an active member in her community and church. Cookie served as an active and dedicated member in the Community Praise Ministry, Women's Association Ministry, volunteer at Sam Houston Elementary, as well as a host of many other ministries and organizations. She was a rare jewel to her community, church, family, and friends. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was a true example of a God-fearing woman and servant to Him. Cookie will truly be missed, but her love, wisdom, generosity, laughter, and Grace will reign in our hearts forever.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday August 30th 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, Texas 77340. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday August 31, 2016 at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 426 Highway 190 East, Huntsville, Texas 77320. Interment will follow at Brooke Cemetery, 672 FM 980, Huntsville, Texas 77320.
