Luis Avelar, of Huntsville Texas, passed away on October 31, 2016 in Magnolia Texas at the age of 85.
Visitation, will be at 9:00 am Saturday, November 5, at Waller Thornton Funeral Home Huntsville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at Waller Thornton Funeral Home Huntsville, Texas.
Freddy Perla of Iglesia Pentecostal Unida Espana, and Antonio and Estela Gallegos of Iglesia Monte Calvario will be officiating. Burial will follow at Brooke Cemetery.
Luis Avelar was born in Karnes City, Texas to Marcelino and Ricarda Avelar on August 19, 1931. He married the mother of his children, Maria Luisa Torres In Matamoros Mexico. He worked as a Foreman for Louisiana Pacific Lumber Company for 21 years.
During this time he received a Gold Ring after 15 years of employment and a watch band at time of retirement. He was involved at The Senior Center of Walker County in Huntsville, Texas. Luis was also very proud of the two Christian music cd`s that he recorded.
Even though he was visually impaired, he would also love for everyone to know that both of his music cd`s are on youtube and is very proud of that.
Luis is preceded in death by his parents, Marcelino and Ricarda Avelar and his siblings; Maria Del Carmen Avelar, Felisa Rosales, Maria Galvan, Victoria Estrada, Margarito Avelar, and his son Luis Avelar Jr.
Luis is survived by the mother of his children Maria Luisa Avelar. His children and their spouses; Joe and Elda Avelar, Dora Avelar, Ricarda and Eliazar Alvarado, Rosa and Warren Hinton, Rachel and Sam Daugherty, Marcelino and Cheryl Avelar, Esmeralda Avelar, Maria Isabel Avelar, Luis Avelar Jr., Lucinda and Gene Rutherford, Humberto Rodriguez Avelar and Brandi Driggers, brother; Regino Avelar, and sister; Francisca Sauseda. Luis Avelar is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
