Mary's Story

Text size

Mary Ann Franklin was born August 29, 1941 in Huntsville, Texas, and went home to her Savior on June 24, 2016.
Mary Ann will always be remembered as a loving mom, sister, and "GG" to all her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren including the extended "grandkids" on the buses where she served as a bus driver and monitor for many years caring for special needs children of HISD. She was a Godly woman, relying on her faith as a source of strength that kept her going even through the tough times in life. Her servant's heart will always be remembered by all she touched as a member of the Walker County Cowboy Church.
She worked for 10 years for the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, and then finished her career by returning to HISD as a monitor on the special needs buses.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her father Earl Jernigan and mother Inetha Morgan Jernigan, along with three of her grandchildren, Kyle Webb, Kelli Williams, and John Anderson.
She is survived by her four children, sons: Curtis Jr. and wife Brandy, Virgil and wife Susan, Elza and wife Denise and daughter Tracy. Her grandchildren Kimberly Blair, Michelle McDowell, John Curtis Franklin, Taylor Babbs, Cody Williams, Jeni Parker, and her great grandchildren Macy, Carson and Ayden McDowell, Reba and Dylan Blair, Aerie and Kaelyn Parker. Her three sisters Catherine Snelgrove, Verla Hardy, and Earline Perkins.
Sincere thanks to St Joseph Hospice, Nurse Deidra, caregiver Alma, and the nurses at Stat Home Health Care.
