Mildred Currie Jackson

May 30, 1935 - July 22, 2017

Mildred Currie Jackson, beloved mother, sister and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017 surrounded by her family. She is survived by three children: Jerald Jackson and wife Delma of Huntsville, Texas, Cathy Steinbach and husband Eric of Oakhurst, Texas and Debbie Walding and husband Chester of Riverdale, Georgia. Five grandchildren: Raymond Walding and wife Mindy of Tyron Georgia, Rex Walding and wife Shawn of Hampton, Georgia, Misty Torres and husband Jose of Fayetteville, Georgia, Shawn Carter and Stuart Carter both of Huntsville, Texas. 12 great grandchildren: Nathan, Kadence, Luke, Reece Ann, Reagan Alice, Triston, Jaden, Hailey, Amber, Cody, Wayde and Zachery. Two brothers: Talmadge Currie of Oakhurst, Texas, Jerry Currie and wife Barbara of Montgomery, Texas, two sisters Doris Jackson and Darlene Wilson of Corydon, Indiana and one half-brother, Willard Currie of Huntsville, Texas . She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Jerald "Bo" Jackson, and her parents Julian and Clemmie Currie.
Mildred was born in her grandparent's home,( Zach and Mattie Currie) in Oakhurst, Texas. She passed away in her daughter's home, within sight of the same house in which she was born. She loved family, children especially, and often had children other than her own living with her, including her brother Talmadge and twin sisters Doris and Darlene. She had a love for cooking and was known as one of the best cooks around home, particularly for her cakes and pies. She worked in the school cafeteria at Huntsville Intermediate School for five years and went on to retire after working for 20 years in the cafeteria at Gulf Coast Trade School in New Waverly, Texas. She was very giving and always put other's needs before her own. She loved flowers and had a green thumb; any plant she touched was sure to grow. She was a member of the Huntsville Church of Christ for over 50 years.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Larry Wells, his nurses and the entire office staff at Huntsville Family Medical Practice for all their help throughout the past year, and to Pathfinders Home Health Care agency.
Visitation will be Thursday evening July 27, 2017 5:30-8:30 at Waller Thornton Funeral Home Huntsville. Services July 28, 2017 at1:00 pm at Huntsville Church of Christ, interment following at Raven Hill Cemetery, Oakhurst, Tx
