Robert Massey, August 1931- June 2017, Bob went to be with the lord on June 22, 2017 while surrounded by his wife and children. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Frona, two children: David and Douglas (Debbie), and sister, Nita. He also leaves behind his greatest legacy, his seven grandchildren: Ashley, Jonathan, Lauren, Ryan, Patrick, Brenden, and Reagan.
Bob was born and raised in Houston, TX and is a graduate of Milby High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and honorably served his country until 1974. During this time, he was commissioned as an officer and proudly represented America in the Korean and Vietnam war. He also met his loving wife of 55 years, Frona, during this time and started their family of three boys. The family made many moves to support Bob and his duty to our country. The final residence became Huntsville, Texas in July of 1977. In Huntsville, Bob worked for TDCJ and as Walker County Tax Collector before retiring. After retirement, Bob became an active member of The Optimist Club and spent countless hours volunteering his time at The H.E.A.R.T.S. museum and received The Eagle Award for his dedication and service on May 21, 2017. His favorite memories during the time were the ability to give tours and educate student groups. You can still find his naval uniform on display on site from time to time and it will always be a way to show his dedication to this museum. Bob was also an active member in his church, St. Thomas The Apostle. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Funeral Ministry and was always a helping hand when needed. He enjoyed days at home with his wife, watching his grandchildren grow, and playing acey-deucey with his sons. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, giving soul and being a friend to all. His biggest reward in this world will always be his grandchildren and anyone who met him could attest to this.
He is preceded by his son, Charles Frank Massey, his parents, Willie Dee Stovall and Leon C. Massey. His brothers, L.C., Buddy and Charles and his sister, Helen.
