Ruby Alma Warren-Johnson, age 100, was born on November 3, 1915 to the union of Elam and Alice Boone-Warren in Huntsville, Texas. She passed away on September 12, 2016 in Houston, Texas. Ruby grew up in Walker County and graduated from Sam Houston High School. Following graduation on August 4, 1943 she joined the U.S. Army, where she became a member of the Women's Army Corp. and by January 25, 1946 she held the rank of PFC. Ruby is survived by her daughter: Ruby Alice Johnson, grandson: Timothy Otis Ray Johnson; of Houston, Texas, brother: Mazie Warren, sister: Opal Warren-Pace, a host of nieces, nephews, additional relatives and friends.
Friday, September 16, 2016, 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., viewing will be at Cox Funeral Home. Saturday, September 17, 2016, a celebration of Ruby's life will be at First Missionary Baptist Church at 12:00 P.M. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Southend Cemetery.
