Tiber's Story

Text size

Tiber Dudley Nunneley, 85, of Groesbeck, Texas passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 at Windsor Nursing Home in Groesbeck.
Tiber was born in Hufsmith, Texas on February 11, 1931 to Anderson Lawson Nunneley & Hilda Bertha Hirsch Nunneley. He grew up and attended the Lutheran Church and school in the Hufsmith area.
He married Quanda M. "Monty" Williams in 1968. They remained married until her death on October, 30 2015. As a young man he worked many years for Harris County and later changed occupations to Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he was a Correctional Officer with many different assignments over the years. He retired from TDCJ after 33 years of service. They moved to the Buda/Kyle area to be closer to their kids and recently moved to Groesbeck, Texas.
He loved his family, cooking, and especially being outside or piddling in his shop with wood, repairing household items, redoing furniture as a side job. He taught himself to redo cane furniture which was not an easy task. He made the best mashed potatoes, homemade BBQ sauce, and cinnamon rolls. He loved all 5 of his grandkids and while in the nursing home looked to 2 of his grandsons for either helping him up or opening his coke bottle. Toward the end he learned to relax and let his youngest grandson assist with cutting up his food or eating.
Dad loved the Lord and could quote the Bible to us when needed. He also had lots of stories of growing up and hunting for food in his younger days.
He is preceded in death by his parents Anderson and Hilda Nunneley; a sister, Dorothy Helen and his wife of 48 years, Monty Nunneley.
He is survived by daughter, Shannon Poldrack and husband Clay Poldrack; daughter, Leslie Greene and husband Robert Greene; daughter, Rinza Stewart and family; son, Terry Nunneley and family; grandchildren, Jordan Poldrack, Clayton Poldrack, Jr., Preston "JJ" Poldrack , Cole Greene and Kylie Greene.
Graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, September 9, 2016 at McAdams Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.
